MICRA: Call for Nominations & CTR of the Year
We hope this email finds all of you healthy and well. We wanted to share some important updates with our members:
45th Annual Education Conference:
We are excited to announce that our Annual Education Conference will take place virtually this year. The dates are October 20-22, 2021. This will be hosted by MICRA and MidMichigan Health. We have many great speakers including Jim Hofferkamp, CTR, Janet Vogel, CTR, Frederick Greene, MD, FACS, Lisa Landvogt, CTR, Louise Widmer, CTR, Sara Morel, CTR and many from MidMichigan Health. Please watch KnowledgeConnex as registration will open soon. The cost will be $35 for members and nonmembers. We have 12 CE credits pending.
2021 MICRA Board Call for Nominations:
There are 4 board positions up for election this year. We have provided the job description for each open position below. Please consider running for one of these open positions! These terms will start in 2022.
PRESIDENT-ELECT: Term – 2 Years
Duties:
- Position is designed to provide an opportunity to become socialized into MICRA leadership and assist/shadow the President
- Begins his/her term the first January after the election is held
- Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board and attends all Board and business meetings
- Acts on behalf of the President in his/her absence
- Develops agenda for board meeting, runs board meeting, assigns tasks as necessary
- Chairs Education Committee and report any activities
- Maintains MICRA’s Educational Resource Materials within the Library and disburses any materials to the membership as explained in Policy 5 “Educational Resources”
- Supports activities of the association as assigned or directed by the Executive Board
- Completes the unexpired term of the President in the event of vacancy or resignation
- Maintains knowledge of the MICRA’s bylaws, structure, activities, and processes
- Maintains a personal commitment to the Association’s goals and objectives
- Maintains the MICRA website in coordination with the Webmaster
- Moves into the position of President at the end of the term as President-Elect
CORRESPONDING SECRETARY: Term – 2 Years
Duties:
- Work with the website administrator to monitor email notifications to the membership and other interested parties regarding the annual educational conference registration, membership renewal form, any proposed bylaws changes (provided by the parliamentarian), and request for candidates to fill open board seats (provided by the recording secretary).
- Monitor/maintain the membership database via the website online process.
- Work closely with the treasurer to maintain/monitor membership dues records via the website online process
- Send Email reminders to members that are overdue with their membership fees.
- Remove members from active status when they have not paid their annual dues.
- Maintain and send a welcome packet to new members.
- Mail congratulations letter and an invitation to join MICRA to new Michigan CTRs as listed in NCRA’s publication, “The Connection”.
- Attend and actively participate in board meetings.
- Assist the board and the hosting facility with the annual meeting.
- Chair the membership committee.
- Report on the status of the membership at the annual meeting.
NORTH REGIONAL DIRECTOR & SOUTH REGIONAL DIRECTOR: Term – 2 Years
Duties:
- Serve as liaison to the members and the MICRA association in their respective geographic regions on matters of advocacy.
- Serve as a directional resource to member inquiries.
- Identify areas of concern of the membership and work with the executive board to take necessary action on these issues.
- Represent the best interests of the membership from the director’s region.
- Initiate and maintain communication with MICRA members who reside in the director’s region.
- Be a member of the MICRA executive board
- Attend regular executive board meetings as stated in the bylaws.
- Assist if needed with State meeting planning and registration process
- Provide orientation information to new MICRA members
- Be a resident of the applicable geographic region
PARLIAMENTARIAN: Term – 2 Years
Duties:
- Serve as a member of the Executive Board.
- Be responsible for advising the President on Points of Parliamentarian Law (consistent with Robert’s Rules of Order newly revised) at all regular meetings of the Association.
- Review Bylaws and recommend changes or clarification of MICRA Bylaws.
- Present to the MICRA membership any additions or changes of the Bylaws at the annual meeting for voting and approval.
- Maintain a current and updated copy of the MICRA Bylaws.
- Serve in an advisory capacity to all standing committees as needed.
CTR of the Year Award:
For 2021, the voting for the CTR of the Year award will be opened to the MICRA membership. Please consider nominating a colleague for this award. The link for the info and nomination form can be found here. In an effort to keep the nominations de-identified, please do not give any identifying information in your nomination description.
Please note, the deadline for submission for nominations for a board position and for the CTR of the Year award is September 6, 2021 at 11:59 pm. The voting window for both will open on September 21, 2021 and will close October 5, 2021 at 11:59 pm. We hope you will be involved in YOUR association by running for a board position and/or nominating a colleague for the CTR of the Year award!
