MICRA: Annual Education Conference, 2023 Board Call for Nominations & CTR of the Year

We wanted to share some important updates with our members.

46th Annual Education Conference

We are excited to announce that our Annual Education Conference will take place virtually this year. The dates are October 27-28, 2022.

This will be hosted by the MICRA Board. We have many great speakers including Jim Hofferkamp, CTR, Janet Vogel, CTR and Frederick Greene, MD, FACS, to name a few.

  • Cost: The cost will be $35 for members and nonmembers.
  • Registration: This is now open and you must register and pay through KnowledgeConnex.
  • Deadline to Register: Registration is now open and will close on October 14, 2022, at 11:59pm.
  • Link for Conference: Once you register for this conference you will be sent a GoToMeeting link from Registry Partners; this will be after October 14, 2022.
  • Annual Conference Program: This will be sent at a later date once finalized. Total CEs: pending.
  • Recordings: Our Annual Conference will have live presenters and we are looking into recording these.  Information for this will be shared once finalized.

Registration is now open and will close on October 14, 2022 at 11:59pm.

2023 MICRA Board Call for Nominations

There are 2 board positions up for election this year. We have provided the job description for each open position below. Please consider running for one of these open positions! These terms will start in January 2023.

The deadline for this submission is September 23, 2022, at 12:00 pm EST. Voting will take place electronically this year and will be from October 3, 2022, through October 9, 2022. The winners will be announced at our Annual Conference.

Recording Secretary: 2-year Term

  • Attend all executive board meetings and the annual business meeting.
  • Obtain the book of minutes of previous meetings and other materials from predecessor, including the master copy of the bylaws and official documents and records of the Association.
  • Reserve a meeting location for the executive board meetings.
  • Send out meeting notices to all board members prior to each executive board meeting.
  • In conjunction with the President, prepare the agenda for each executive board meeting and the annual business meeting.
  • Record the members present at each executive board meeting.
  • Record and type the minutes of each executive board meeting.
  • Record and type the minutes of the annual business meeting.
  • Enter all amendments to the bylaws in the minutes, when the vote is taken.
  • Send out the current minutes to all executive board members prior to each meeting.
  • Submit the minutes of each executive board meeting and the annual business meeting for posting on the MICRA website.  If the minutes from the previous year’s annual business meeting are not posted on the website at least 30 days prior to the current year’s annual business meeting, the Recording Secretary shall read the previous year’s minutes at the annual business meeting.
  • Correct any errors or omissions from the previous meeting minutes.
  • Serve as chair of the nominating committee.
  • Prepare a notice to the membership each year listing the positions that are up for election, including the job description for each position, and requesting submission of nomination forms and candidate profile forms.
  • Keep the master copy of all nomination and candidate profile forms.
  • Work with the website administrator to conduct the election of officers.
  • Announce the newly elected board officers at the annual business meeting.
  • Assist the board with other assigned tasks.

Treasurer: 2-year Term

  • Manage the Association’s financial accounts (including but not limited to deposits and withdrawals)
  • Process Reimbursement Requests
  • Prepare and submit Treasury Reports to the Board Members prior to Board Meetings
  • Submit a Monthly Treasury Report to the Board Members
  • Prepare Year-end Treasury Reports
  • Monitor membership applications and dues payments via the website online process
  • Monitor annual meeting registrations via the website online process
  • Prepare Annual Meeting Income/Expense Report
  • Submit Annual Report to the State of Michigan
  • Treasury Report is subject to review at any time

Open MICRA Committee Positions: Get your Feet Wet!!

If you are not interested in being a board member “Get Your Feet Wet” and sign up to be a volunteer for one of our Committees.

These are volunteer positions and you will not have to run for them. You must be a MICRA member to volunteer for these open Committee Positions.

Here is some information on the Committees as to what you can expect. Please reach out to any board member if you are interested in volunteering for any of these open Committee positions.

Membership Committee

  • Assisting the Coordinating Secretary and Treasurer with keeping the MICRA Membership roster updated
  • Assist with membership applications and conducting membership drives
  • 2 volunteer positions open

Education Committee

  • Assisting the President Elect to prepare and arrange educational programs
  • Review programs for meetings submitted by hosting facilities if an Education Conference is held
  • 2 volunteer positions open

Nominating Committee

  • Assisting Recording Secretary with securing nominees for office and conducting elections.
  • Reviewing the ballots for elections and helping to notify newly elected persons
  • 2 volunteer positions open

Liaison Committee

  • Assist the President with publications and public related actives for MICRA
  • This Committee is the Liaison between MICRA and NCRA
  • 2 volunteer positions open

By-Laws Committee

  • Assist the Parliamentarian with all proposed amendments to the bylaws
  • 2 volunteer positions open

Finance Committee

  • Assist the Treasurer with received funds and also disbursing funds for MICRA
  • Helping to perform the annual finance audit of the association
  • 2 volunteer positions open

Ways and Means Committee 

  • Assist the North and South Regional Directors oversee fund raising as applicable
  • 2 volunteer positions open

CTR of the Year Award

For 2022, the voting for the CTR of the Year award will be opened to the MICRA membership. Please consider nominating a colleague for this award. The link for the info and nomination form can be found below.

In an effort to keep the nominations de-identified, please do not give any identifying information in your nomination description. This is something that we would like to continue to do but, in the past, have not had a lot of participation.

Please nominate your fellow CTR today!

  • Who do you know that has helped you and made an impact in your career as a CTR?
  • If you nominate a fellow CTR; you will be placed in a drawing for a gift card!

Please note, that the deadline for submission for nominations for a board position and for the CTR of the Year award is September 23, 2022, at 11:59 pm.

The voting window for both will open on October 3, 2022, and will close on October 9, 2022, at 11:59 pm.
