I am currently working from
my home as an abstractor for the Cancer Registry of West Michigan Cancer Center.
I began work in the health care field at the age of fifteen as a switchboard
operator and medical transcriptionist for a small local community hospital. I’ve
traveled many miles since then and have been privileged to meet and work with a
lot of very interesting, talented, caring and gracious people.
I have changed directions several times – all with excellent opportunities and
outcomes. As a result, I have worked as a medical assistant, a registered
radiologic technician (both general x-ray and radiation therapy), accredited
health information technician (department coordinator, abstractor/coder), and as
a certified tumor registrar (in various capacities). My credentials currently
are RHIT and CTR. Professional affiliations have included the American Registry
of Radiologic Technologists, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists,
the Michiana, Michigan, and American Medical Record Associations and, of course,
NCRA and MICRA.
I enjoy people, walking with my dog, cooking, baking, sewing, music (playing
the piano, singing in two choirs), reading, and crosswords puzzles.
God has richly blessed me!
